The Ministry Excellence Fund (MEF) provides aid to help alleviate some types of financial distress for ministers

Consumer Aid

The Lilly Endowment has given us a unique opportunity to address economic challenges that face our ministerial community. Although we are unable to address everything, a consumer aid grant that targets consumer debt and the burdensome student loans (with high interest rates) is being made available through the Ministry Excellence Fund.

An award of up to $10,000 is available for approved applicants. Ministers who receive this grant commit to an interaction that may be up to nine months long.

Please carefully read all documents that follow to get a sense for the commitments related to this grant.

Catastrophe Information

Crisis involves a limited shorter-term difficulty that can be managed through the Minister’s Crisis Fund. A catastrophe rises above what the crisis fund can manage and involves a once in a lifetime occurrence. There are a small handful of events that rise to this level in our ministerial community each year.

Ministers who experience a once-in-a-lifetime event of loss may be eligible for aid beyond what the Ministers’ Crisis Fund provides. This is a match fund. Participation by the ministers’ local church and regional conference is expected.
